...photoshop 7, what?!

...the other day I decided that it might be cool to go through my hard drive and pick out a few of the things that I have tried to do in the past. As I began to dig I found some things that I totally forgot about, things that made me smile and some that made me wonder what I was thinking. So I decided that I would post a couple of these pieces. Its neat to see the cycles in our lives, and these pieces have shown me how I have changed.

This was a photo I attempted to take while driving and if you look closely you can see that its not raining, my Olympus camera decided to focus on the dirty windshield. This was taken on January 2nd, 2004. Its strange to think that Wilkerson Pass (southeast of Buena Vista, Colorado) had very little snow for this time of the year. Well to get back to the story, when I arrived at my parents house I found this gorgeous photo waiting for me on my memory card. So I decided to give it a face lift so I broke out the laptop, fired up Adobe Photoshop 7 and produced this beauty.

The original picture could have been much better due to the fact that the subject was supposed to be the 14,000 ft. Mt. Princeton in all its glory. But as history proves this was not the case, and like the saying goes...when life gives you lemons make lemonade. So I decided to make some lemonade and in time came to this as my final print.

...it has finally arrived!!!

...i just wanted to let yall know that it finally arrived to day. Yes my Cintiq is in my hands and is paid in full which makes it so much better. Just so you know...it IS everything that I dreamed it would be. To be able to look directly at what I am painting is so much more natural, I hope that this will speed up my work flow and in turn allow me to create more for yall to see.

...new hardware investment!

...well I just recently ordered a new piece of hardware that I have been dreaming about for the past several years. For the past two years or so I have been using the Wacom Intuos3 6x8 tablet for my work. It has been a fantastic help to my work flow especially in my photo editing and especially when I use Corel Painter. The problem is that in my brain there is a disconnect. By nature ( with pen and pencil) we look at our canvas as we draw, write, paint, etc... Well with the Intuos3 you look at the screen while your hand does its things on the flat surface below your eyes. That is were I have my problem, I am used to looking at the point of the pencil as it makes its mark on the canvas. This is the problem with the Intous3. Granted the Wacom Intuos3 is a lot easier on your pocketbook in comparison to say a Wacom Cintiq tablet which runs about $2000 for a 20" display.

Well just recently Wacom released something that was music to my ears, that same amazing Wacom Cintiq but in a smaller package. Same great product but more reasonably priced. Now I get to look at my hand again, I get to see the point of my pencil as it digitally makes an impression on the canvas. I get to reconnect the disconnect that I have struggled with for the past several years. I pre-ordered the Wacom Cintiq 12WX and found out today that is has been shipped. My excitement continues to grow as I await the arrival of my first Cintiq.

Just as in life we start small and build up, making sure that we are making wise investments along the way. It's is a process that reminds me that everything has its time, my pencil and paper to my Wacom Intuos and now my Wacom Cintiq.

...welcome

...greetings. oomph Studios is my personal creation studio stemming from a passion to create. But its not just a passion to create, but a passion to go that extra yard in the process of imagination, which is the movement before the creation begins.

Merriam-Webster defines oomph as energy; vitality; enthusiasm. oomph is my expression in the process of my passion to create. Its a step further in the process as I explained above.

I begin my thoughts and creations with '...' which always reminds me that I am not the first. It reminds me to be humble, reminding me that there were many that came before me. I am not the first and I wont be the last, but I am me. It also tells me that all creation comes from the one who created everything, it is said that "there is nothing new under the sun" and I know that my creations are just expressions of what has already been created by my Lord and my God. He has given me a passion to create my own expressions.

I will post as often as I make headway on future projects to show you my progress and where my thoughts are taking me this week. Please let me know what you think and forget not who created you. Feel free to visit my website you will find the link in my links at the top of the blog.
